Invested in What Makes Organizations and Communities Run

Hi, I’m Shannon. Thanks for visiting my page!

I’m trying to find the right words to introduce myself. “Multidisciplinary” feels too jargony. A “jack of all trades” feel cliched. What I am is an operations professional, a policy nerd, and a design enthusiast.

My day job sits squarely in the business world, building the infrastructure and operations for our company to grow and our teams to thrive.

Outside of work, I’m constantly learning about the systems and policies — in areas from transit and housing, to education and food access—that keep our communities healthy and happy.

Through it all, I try to appreciate the beauty in thoughtful and user-centric design - whether that is a particularly clean powerpoint slide, an elegant storm water management solution, or a creative tiny home feature.

I’m here to write about these — and a bunch of other — topics. Sometimes I draw on my professional experience (a background in management consulting and investment) or my schooling (business administration and policy). Other times, I’m just exploring and wondering what-if. It’s my blog, so I can do that.

When I’m not in front of my computer, I can generally be found boxing, cheering for Duke basketball, renovating my 100+ year old house, or hanging with my family.

*Everything here is my own. It does not represent my employer or any organization I volunteer with.
